My Grandpa’s Garage is a sentimental biopic about one man’s life as a collector of cherished items held under the roof of his beloved a-frame garage. Unbeknownst to him, his journey throughout life collecting items and capturing moments through the lens of a camera has made him a documentarian of history. The garage becomes a “museum” that reflects the embodiment of seizing life through material objects. Narrated by his granddaughter Adrienne Wagner, this story about Bob Wagner is told from the perspective of Adrienne as she recalls how her memories and lessons playing in the garage as a child has helped her grow into who she is today. As Bob introduces the items, they come to life before our eyes and teach us that it isn’t the object itself we should cherish, but the memories that are held within them. Meet the mentor and mentee families of Hello Neighbor's Class of 2017! Hello Neighbor is a new organization in Pittsburgh that matches refugee and immigrants with mentors to guide and support them in their new lives. As we built this program, something we came back to over and over again is the idea that the word refugee is a label. But refugees are much more than that. They are mothers and daughters and husbands and sons. They are students and soccer players. They are Pittsburghers. They are our neighbors. We started asking them to share how they would identify themselves and asked our mentors too. Their answers inspired us to create this video.
